Hi I am looking for a bit of advice please. Me and my wife made our final payment to the trust deed in May 2016. However we still haven't received discharge yet, I call them every 2 weeks and told that they are still waiting for a creditor to put there claim in, how long is this likely to go on, just want it finished so I can get on with things.
Next point is that I am on a basic account at my bank, I have tried to upgrade but they are not letting me. Again when are they likely to allow me to upgrade my bank account.Any advice is appreciated, my main concern is to get my discharge so that I can start picking up the pieces. Thank you

Hi poprey.

We can't really say how long it will take I'm afraid. To be honest, I'm not sure that this situation really makes it impossible to discharge you now. I guess different firms must have different procedures in this respect, but I understand other firms would/could have discharged you while they carried on with this part of their work.

We can't tell you when you'll be able to upgrade your bank account either. This depends upon your personal situation, the policies of your bank, and the type of account that you're applying for. However plenty of people here have been able to move to accounts that they consider to be upgraded soon enough after their discharge.

Sorry there's no precise answer to either of your questions.

Thanks TSA for your speedy reply, I have just phoned them up again 5 Minutes ago, they are saying just waiting for my case to be signed off by the Trustee, then it's only the form 5 stage, they said my wife's case is one step ahead with the Trustee already signed hers, will it still take some time to receive the form 5, and what does that mean in terms of discharge, thanks again

The trustee submits the Form 5 to the Accountant in Bankruptcy and they'll then update the Register of Insolvencies with your discharge date.

Once it's on the Register of Insolvencies it's official (rather than becoming official when a trustee signs Form 5 or when you receive a copy).
