Morning,
I've recently been offered a new job with a huge substantial increase in salary and formally accepted the new job offer. however the new job is a financial administration company. and while i personally wont be involved in financial work as i'll be working in their IT Department I noticed that i have to go through a credit check.
I have declared that i'm in the middle of a four trust deed plan on my Security application and informed the HR Dept of my trust deed and have since been informed this may be a problem as i must go through a credit check.
I am now worried i could miss out on this massive career change opportunity and the rewards that go with it due to my Trust Deed.
Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I have even called KB and they have sent email confirming i'm up to date on my trust deed with the amount i'm paying and the run dates of my plan. Should i include this letter to my potential new employers?
I would include the letter if you are asked. In many cases the credit check is to flag up any potential fraud rather that your credit rating, its really down to the employer and what they are looking for.
I have been through this before and it was not an issue but it was not within the financial industry.
Good luck to you and now at least you know you're a good candidates for similar positions that come up in the future (nothing Ventured Nothing Gained)
Hi Sean1985.
From a financial services employer point of view, an employee with unknown financial difficulties creates the potential for additional risk. They're required to control the risks to their business.
Your disclosure of the trust deed is important in a couple of respects. Firstly, it's out in the open so it's no longer an unknown issue. Secondly, you've demonstrated integrity by disclosing it in advance. These are important things for a financial services employer.
Demonstrating that your trust deed is being well managed might also be a good idea. It might be an easier hiring decision (for the person who is responsible for that decision) if they have this additional level of confidence and documentation.
Fingers crossed for you.
Hi Sean1985,
How did you get on with the job offer and credit check?
