The Office of Fair Trading has today told 129 debt management companies that they will lose their consumer credit licences if improvements are not made.
The OFT investigation into the industry has included visits to DMP companies, mystery shopping and a review of websites.
The issues they discovered were widespread and will be very familiar to regular readers of this forum.
Key issues:
1 - A lack of competence amongst advising staff at some companies.
2 - Misleading information on many websites.
3 - Poor complaints procedures at some companies.
