hi, wondering if anybody could help. I am in a trust deed and am a director of a ltd co. I am trying to renew liability insurance and seem to getting refused it everywhere as I am viewed a moral risk.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks
Hi jt222.
We've often advised here over the years that people need to be a little careful when obtaining any type of insurance while in personal insolvency. Some insurers do perceive an extra risk and therefore are less willing to provide cover. Other insurers don't seem to have a problem with it.
In terms of business insurance, this issue seems to be magnified somewhat. We've heard from quite a few people who have had difficulty obtaining policies that cover them for business-type risks.
My advice would be to get in touch with an insurance broker that deals with business policies. Be very open with them about your personal situation. Often they can use their knowledge and industry contacts to guide you towards insurers that have a more open mind about this type of thing.
Hi jt222,
As TDA says best call a couple of insurance brokers, there are definitely insurers who will cover you but also a lot that wont as you have unfortunately found out.
You can also get a couple of brokers/insurers online who will also be able to give you a quote although i'd say best just use your local broker.
Good luck.

Thanks for adding your thoughts Hamish - I'm glad that we agree!

I do think that it's likely that a good insurance broker will be able to resolve this for you.
