Hi Hamish1205,

Following the successful completion of a Trust Deed, there should be no restrictions on you either becoming self employed or setting up a company.

But it's worth making sure you go about setting up your company in the right way, to protect yourself. You mention in the title that you're starting a ltd company - while you'd be employing yourself through that company, you'd be an employee, not technically self-employed. There is a distinction in both tax and legal considerations.

Good luck in the new venture.

Thanks

Paul

Does anyone know whether I can go self employed in the first year post trust deed? I was discharged in March/April this year & I am unsure what the rules surrounding the insolvency register etc are for starting a new company. I have been made redundant from my current job and I'm looking to start a business shortly.
